Is Google the best search engine?

I completely agree, after I found google I have not needed to do a search on another engine. Its superfast and always returns great matches.

I know a lot of people use google. I use hotbot i've been using it for a while now. I know its not very accurate but I like the fact that you can specify if the site should include video, mp3, or pictures. I will probably make the change to google soon though, eh maybe ill use both.

I used to use Hotbot. It came out shortly before Google and I liked Hotbot's features for advanced searches. I got tired of not fidign things, so I moved to Copernicus, a third party search program that searches many different search engines. This gave me loads of info, but it included all of the shortcomings of the different (lots of advertisements, lots of pron, etc). Then I hearda bout Google (a few months after it hit the scene) and have used it exclusively ever since. It is a phenomenal tool and is the closest any site has come to truly cataloging the web.

I myself have never directly used google, but I am loyal to a search engine called c4.com that uses all the major search engines, with google included, and so far c4 is the best I've used. C4.com is not flashy but it sure gets results. You can even use questions in your searches. But, I will give google a try to see for my self how good is it.

I have used goolge tons and found it to be very useful, but IMHO I think that www.alltheweb.com is faster and a little better, and that is what I now use.

I use Dogpile for the majority of my web based searches. Google is perfectly fine for most users, but I personally do not like the interface.

Google is my first but it doesnt hurt to try the others especially for if I am doing super in-depth research.

Google wins hands down. I cannot see any shortcomings when using Google. It has also taken over Deja news recently. Now you can search Newsgroup archives with Google. There are caches of every page, which have come in handy. Recently they have added a translation button for pages in other languages. Someone at Google is doing there homework. Nothing beats Google.

Two questions:
1- Google has recently added an image search option. It appears quite good, I haven't used any other image search engine. Is there one that is better? Image searches are awesome for comp parts.
2- When will Google go public. I'm dying to buy some shares.

I've been using Yahoo for several years, I dont know, I just like the name of it. I have tried Google before, I just never really paid attention to the speed of it. From now on I think I will use it, if I can get Yahoo out of my mind

Yahoo uses the google system to run it's searches on the web page level (not web SITE, yahoo differintiates). i've noticed sometimes if i do a search with yahoo, the webpage name is google.yahoo.com

btw, i use yahoo as well, becuase thats where i've set up my personal version they offer, yes others offer that too, but i made mine there and i'm not setting up another one...hehehehe
