Reviews of XP
Well, folks...we'll definately see alot more of these to come!! Get ready. I'm running XP now through the Preview program. I have to say that although it takes getting a little used to when you like to tinker like I do (don't we all?), but really overall... "I'm really liking it!!" They claim faster startups with XP, but I don't see a difference (PIII 600 Dell sys..for now ) The major difference is the icon enhancement, a few leaks of Windows 2000 in the XP OS and overall look and feel. A winner so far IMHO!! and hey, dont forget to email if you'd like to argue a point or just chat!! Later

I personally tend to agree more with the Tech Zone review. Where as I think Ana is high in the night

I personaly havent seen to much of it, but BOY have I heard a bunch of negative stuff about it. Problems with compatability as well as other stuff. I'm just starting with Windows 2K, and besides my ACPI problems, I'm really liking it.

One of my renters in my house is on the XP beta program, and from what I've used of it, it seems many, many steps higher than ME, which is what I'm using on my workstation right now.

Yes, it's true that there are compatablity issues with XP, ie. NU 2000/01 will not run w/ it, also www.stamps.com doesn't function...but it's only a short matter of time before they release the updates for it. Hopefully they won't ALL be new versions that you have to repurchase!

Don't like all the download and mailing problems form your opinion (that's the bad stuff). I am using RC1 for every day home and business (brave huh) other than loosing some hardward (due to lack of drivers) MicroSoft has with XP produced the best OS to date. Drivers will come after it goes gold. Speed is great however really no faster booting. Cable modem speed doubled but I am sure the providers will find a way to stop that.
All in all get out the wallet Alice, your in for a wild ride. I can't crash it without really throwing some strange drivers at it. Have a big problem just restore, which really works, not like Me. Install the wrong drivers (we all have done that) hey, just "roll back" driver and wap no picking lines outta the registry.
Sure their will be problems but the only "bug free software is obsolete software". Take some visual getting used to and thing are in different places but learn it because it will be around for a long time.

Any ideas how XP performs as a gaming environment? What about support for legacy applications? It sounds pretty feature rich, but then again, so does each successive MS OS...
