NASA detonates a rocket, destroys prototype scramjet

It would be rather stupid of NASA not to keep a backup of an aircraft flying at Mach 7

It would be dumb, but they've done much more... foolish things.

Perhaps, but I think most people are overly hard on NASA. The things they are trying to accomplish, and have successfully accomplished, are DIFFICULT to say the least.

I know people at NASA and they are the cream of the crop, top notch minds. If THEY screw up, imagine what kind of job a "regular" people would do..

Ramjet and scramjet technology has always inticed intrest yet offered no concrete proff of its' potential. It is regretable that this most recent atempt at ram/scramjet propulsion has come up short.
hope it comes to fruition soon.
