    geforce2 mx locking up 3d mark 2001

    Hi all
Ive been trying to get a better score on my machine with 3d mark 2001.
Im currently getting around 2180 without any o/c which i think after reading some of these posts is still pretty low
If i try and overclock my geforce2 mx and then run 3d mark 2001 the machine locks up.
Anybody else have this problem and is there a cure.
The machine seems to run ok when the card is o/c to 200/200 but i cant run 3dmark to see what the results are.

    Athlon 1.2c
    asus a7a266 latest bios 1005
    396 pc133 ram
    3d prophet geforce2 mx
    sblive value
    dx 8.0
    detontators 12.41
    win98 se
    1024x768 32bit

    3d mark 2001 score 2184

    any ideas guys???

    Chers
    Tony

I think that's about the average score you can get with an mx card. The score wont increase by much anyway (maybe you can get it to 2600 by overclocking and tweaking!).

Try to download new drivers (maybe some betas like the 12.90 ones!) and tweaking utilities.

I reccomend the Geforce Tweaking Utility and you can download it from:

    Yeah thanks Eagle

Ive just got hold of the latest detonators (14.70) and have been o/c the geforce bit by bit and at current am getting a score now of 2601 which im happy with.
Time for a better vid card i think.

    Cheers

A new video card will do good but I think the mx sure has some life in it yet!!

If you are going to update your video card, check the video card forum for suggestions, etc.!

    Just for curiosity;
did you have sba(side ban adressing)enabled on your card?.Cause a lot of people use a program called gf123 bios editor to edit the bios in order to enable sba and having sba enable is known to cause lockups when benchmarking. If so that might be the problem.

Instead of Overclocking your card, Try Oc'ing your FSB, which will also speed up your card, the latest bios for this board is v.1006, it's a beta but it's stable
