    I scored 381 on 3dMarks 2001.
    Abit BH6 mobo
    Celeron 400 slot 1
    128mb PC133 Zeus Ram
    8G 5400 RPM, ata33 Maxtor
STB Velocity 4400, using Det. 6.50

I really loved the 1fps, a comic strip moved faster. Top fps was 11.

Muwhahahahahahah!!!!! Eagle1, my res is higher than your res!!!!! Imperion, the most fps i got was maybe 15 in the lobby at low quality. I'll post my new score as soon as I install mobo and duron. I looked up on Madonion's site and similar systems with a duron and voodoo get around 2800! Hehe i bet mine doesnt get that high. Iam unable to do a fresh install of winblows. Re-insatll is no problem, cus win98 cd on HD. Wonder how I can copy the win98 folder to a DOS-only setup on another HD and install? I don't think it is full--upgrade most likely. Any ideas on how to do this?

Only way you're gonna get a fresh install is to have a full version of 98, if you only have an upgrade.

And the celeron isn't used by me, anymore. I rebuilt it to take over to my mother's house so she has one.

I have 2 other systems that work pretty well.
    Main system (now)
Full tower ATX 300 watt PS
    Samsung SyncMaster 955DF 19" Mon.
    Epox 8k7a
    T-bird 1G (266fsb) @ 1.33G
    256mb Crucial PC2100 DDR
    Visiontek GeForce3 64mb DDR w/ BlueOrb HS/fan
    1 - 30G, 1 - 40G Maxtor ata100 7200rpm HD
    Soundblaster live X-Gamer 5.1
    Hauppaugge TV-Video Capture Card Stereo
    10/100mb Linksys NIC
    SIIG Ultra ATA100 Card
    52x Cdrom
    Lite-On 12x10x32
    Creative PC-DVD Dxr2 - using software decode

This system gets a good score, which is posted in one of the other 3dMark2001 threads.

Imperion1, did you have the dvd hooked up to your low mhz cpu? Cus with my setup (500, voodoo 3) I get real skippy dvd movie playback. I can't afford new vidcard for another month or so. Will I get better playback with mobo and duron? I know the voodoo is sh** for dvd but surely better cpu would give better playback? Well, off to installation! Wish me luck. I'm not newbie but I am also not a veteran of installing new mobo's.

    Ok, good luck.

On my old celeron 400, I used the mpeg card that came with my Creative DVD. I also used the creative soft dvd without the mpeg card and didn't have any problems. Not choppy or anything. Of course this could be due to my Velocity 4400 AGP graphics card supports dvd without an mpeg card.

I had the same problem as you did mentat!

I tweaked the Voodoo, overclocked it and the dvd was good but not great (my dvd player is 4x so maybe this too can be a reason for the playback to be choppy).!

Try to tweak it and see where it leads to.!

Well, guys, I just installed the new mobo and duron, and all I got to say is......OMFG!!!! The difference! From 15/30 fps in CS to 99 FPS IN CS!! Plus, my benchmark has went up to `1600!!! Not great but acceptable. Got around 30 to 50 fps in Lobby at low quality. God's, what a difference! And the DVD playback is out of this world! I played Gladiator all the way thru without any skipping at all! ****. who says voodoo's are no good at dvd????? BTW, After I installed them, it was great. Then a day after I started to get VERY low fps. Then I could not get online right. I would be able to connect but could not use any proggies to get anywhere. I tried Installing winblows again to no avail. Then I ran a virus detector. WOW! I had accepted a zip-file from someone containing new VIA 4in1 drivers. That was the last time i got online. It was in my mIRC download folder called BackDoor.UNK. Never heard of a UNK file before. Well after I got the virus out of my system and rebooted and re-installed windows, all is well. Man, 5 years online and I got my first virii!!!

Congratulations man.!! I'm sure you'll be satisfied with your performance. Voodoos still has some life left.! Although I use a GeForce in the new system, I think the Voodoo will offer good performance too.!

    Get this,

    AMD Athlon 750MHz
    384 PC100 SDRAM
    GeForce2 MX/MX400

    1024x768 w/ 32 color
    3DMark2001 score = 602!!!

I updated the drivers for my motherboard and it jumped up to 2110. I was worried before I checked to do that.

Hi there guys, I got about 300 ish in 3D Mark 2001 default, it was like watching a slide show, never told anyone far too embarrassing.
    My system ;-
    AMD 450 @ 450 (couldn't o/clock it)
    Gigabyte GA5AX rev 5 F3 bios (I know, **** board)
    128 mb oem 100 ram
    Voodoo 3 3000
    SB 128
    Supra V90 modem
    no name 10/100 nic
    IBM 20 Gig 7200 H/D UDMA 66
    Matsu****a DVD (software player)

Then I ditched the (well sold them off cheap) Voodoo 3, the memory, and the 450, and bought a K6 2+ 500, Geforce 2 MX, and 256 mb of 133 cas 2 memory.

Did a fresh install of win 98 and now I get 1415 default on 2001 with the 500 @ 550 and the MX o/clocked to the max using coolbits and the 1290 detonators. Power DVD now runs smoothly without any stutters, and I now have something to bragg about with mates even though they have 1 gig machines now and get around 4000 default on 2001.
    Regards,
    Bob.
