Speakers? Any Recommendations?

I'm in need of a good pair of Speaker that can get LOUD and sound great, not necessarily for 3-D games but I do play a little, anyone know the best Speakers in the $50 range give or take a little??? THANKS

I don't have them yet but people have told me the altec lansing acs295s were pretty good. they ended up being 79 with shipping. i think they are two 7watt and a 20watt subwoofer and the guy i ordered from said he has them and they are good, after i had already ordered them too.

should know more by tuesday night if you can wait that long.

Always wondered about this one... Why does everybody buy a separate pair of speakers for the PC??? I run my AWE 32's "line out" into my Aiwa home stereo system and it sounds a helluva lot better than any PC speakers I've heard.

I live in an apartment and don't have room for a stereo in my room, plus the newer PC Speakers are actually Digital instead of Analog sound, through the USB port and stuff and they sound alot better, with unbelievable effects in the near future!

donn, did you get your 295s yet? What do you think of them?

I ended up ordering Altec Lansing ACS45.1's for just over $60 they sound great at normal volumes, they don't get too loud though, are the 295's or whatever any better?

The "Dixie Chicks"? I suppose they're probably better than the Dixie Cups.

Well, i got them and they sound okay so far but i haven't played any games with them and only listened to a "dixie chicks" cd with them because we only had my sister's music with us. My only complaint was that one of the grills had ink on it from the moisture packet. I just emailed altec and they said they don't stock spare parts so i won't be a happy camper if i have to send my whole set back just to change the grill.

I bought recently the Labtec speakers APX-4620 (http://www.labtec.com/products/APX-4620.html).
The sound is just great.
Before, I was using the Altec Lansing (ACS45). These speakers are good but Labtec is really better.
Also, the quality of the sound depends more on the sound card than on the speakers. I would then recommend the sbLive...

Bought some Labtec Lcs2420 spkrs.w/subwoofer about 8 months ago for $60.They sound great and the adjustable bass volume control is nice to have.

same here Dawgtuff. I think the Labtec speakers are great value for the money. I run them off an AWE64 and they sound good enough for me.

hey why dont you just get some RCA cables and hook up a car stereo system to your computer like i did! i have 2 3.5in sattelite speakers, 2 tweeters mounted on my monitor, 2 surround sound speakers mounted on the wall behind me, and 2 8in subwoofers under my desk! it makes stuff fall off the walls upstairs when i turn it up loud!

If like me you are limited (by girlfriend and neighbours) in the amount of noise you can make, invest in a good pair of enclosed headphones.

Personally I recommend Technics or Sennheiser. I used to have a pair of cheap Walkman-type open ones which were okay, but the quality and bass on my new Technics 'phones is superb!

And you can turn it up as much as you like, no-one can hear!!

If you can save up your $$ get the Cambridge SoundWorks FPS2000 w/ a Sound Blaster Live card w/ digital out. Great for DVD, games and you won't need a home sound sys.

two 6 1/2" rear woofers

That's thunderous sound right there.
