    can somebody tell me what the problem is here?

    i have just made my first flash web site-->thanks to the help of rh71 and flash kit and macromedia mickeylive and about 15 other sources. my question is that on my site- http://www.decision.dk3.com my links are supposed to go to other pages. the left one is supposed to go to www.looneytunes.dk3.com, and the right one is supposed to go to www.runtryders.cjb.net. my main problem is that when someone rolls their mouse over the up state of the button, the rollover only comes up on a few little tiny certain parts of the picture. if you visit the site, you can plainly see. can somebody tell me whats wrong? e-mail me at DAN1EL@aol.com and i will gladly send you the .fla so you could take a look. THANKS

    It seems to only work when it's actually over the letters, and not when it's over the whitespace inbetween. You probably need to group the letters all together, or something like that...been awhile since I did any flash.(ok I admit since Flash 3. )

    That's an easy one actually.. qball you want it? I will bow down before thee if you answer correctly. You have 2 minutes.

    Okie, times up...

    I had the same problem when I first started. Basically, you just need to tell Flash where in the button should it activate its properties (up, over, down, hit).

    For the LOONEY TUNE button: in the HIT frame of your button, create a keyframe. Then click off the word LOONEY TUNE so it isn't selected. Using the rectangle tool, draw a white rectangle around the entire content (LOONEY TUNES) of the button, all of the area you want clickable. I say white because it matches the color of your movie background so it will look transparent when the rectangle is drawn. Do the same thing to the RUNTRYDERS button.

    That's all you need to do. Go back to the main scene and assign a getURL to that button and you're set. Oh yes, one more piece of advice... whenever you import images, use the PNG format at their best/good quality and Flash will compress them nicely for you. JPGs are terrible when compressed further.

    No, you don't need to do anything besides enter the http address and select _blank. No variables are needed and these are not expressions that you're entering. Perhaps you're not applying the action to the right object...

    You have to go back to the main stage, and apply the getURL() on the button itself. Select the button using the arrow tool and add the action.

    Okay, put it this way... if you just started a brand new movie, you would have a stage with nothing on it and no buttons. Now you've created a button (LOONEY TUNES) and it's in your library. Drag that button onto the stage, and go to your ACTIONS window to add the getURL() action. Again, make sure the button is selected (use black arrow tool) so that you're applying this action to the proper object. You DON'T want to apply a getURL() to the entire frame of the timeline, just the button. You'll know you're doing it correctly when the ACTION for the button says the following:

    on (release) {
    getURL ("http://www.looneytunes.com", "_blank");
    }

    If you need more help, see if you can send me the FLA and I'll check out exactly what you did.

    Okay... I just saw the problem where it loads up new windows nonstop.

    Try doing this first... check for anything that says onClipEvent and contains a getURL in it. There should be NONE of this because you don't want to load any URLs at any time other than when a user clicks on either of the 2 buttons. That's why it should say onRelease (like I stated in the post above) instead of onClipEvent (this would make it happen whenever the movie gets to that frame, which you DON'T want).

    Again, make sure you are applying the getURL action to the button and not the frame. It should say OBJECT ACTION and not FRAME ACTION when you apply the getURL to the buttons.

    Short of that, make sure you don't have anything in your HTML file that calls up new windows.

    Can I get the FLA file? How big is it?
