Cd-Rom wont work in Dos
For some reason my cd-rom doesn't work in dos.
When I type the drive letter for it in dos it says its invalid, and I've tried other letters to make sure that wasn't the case.
When I use a win98 boot disk, and try booting with cd-rom support, it says no device found and aborts the install of drivers.
And in any dos program with a drive drop down menu, my cd-rom isn't listed.
I dont know whats going on, cuase if I put in a Win2k disk, it detects it and boots off it, but nothing else works and i need to install win98.
Thanks for any and all help.

Welcome to Sysopt!
It may be possible that the generic drivers on the Win98 boot disk doesn't have support for that particular CDROM drive, I've come across a few like that from time to time...
First of all, what manufacturer and model is your CDROM drive. Most likely, you'll be able to download the CDROM drivers and load command lines in the startup files and set the driver path to get it to load in DOS.

Thats what I thought the problem might be, but I don't know how to load other drivers.
So if u could explain a little on how to load the new drivers, I'll go get some from LG and try that.
Man I've been asking this question for ages on Thecomputermechanics boards, and no one came up with anything, and when I sugested it being drivers no one had a clue, and didn't know how to load them if that was the problem, so thanks a bunch for any help!

Look at this link. The first section tells you how to load the cdrom to work in dos. You can download the disk here to do the install. Use the win95disk to get your drive working and then load win98 http://www.angelfire.com/la2/rlpos1/page3.html

Thanks, I'll take a look, and hopefully get it working.

Well, I went to lgs web site, and found the drivers to get it to work in dos, and had instructions on how to use it.
Now it starts to load the lg drivers but it still says no device found and aborts the install.
I am really lost now, dont know why it wont work.
