Can't Burn Anything on Win2k Pro
I have an ASUS A7V with Duron 650 using dual boot WinME and Win2k Pro. I have an Acer 10x CD-RW and cannot burn anything, data or music when using Win2K. I am using Adaptec EZ cd creator 4 and/or Nero 5.5 and no good results. Anyone have any suggestions?

Under Win2K the EZ CD software needs to be atleast 4.02 or higher. For support you now need to visit
www.roxio.com as Adaptec spun off the "software side" of their business

I just recently upgraded to Win2k...and I'm experiencing the same problem. My burner is a HP9310i and while it shows up in Device manager as the correct drive...apparently it doesn't show up when I need to burn something.
I tried reinstalling the drivers and here's what I got:
Install Assistant could not find a suitable IDE controller for the CD-Writer Plus.
HELP! I already miss my cd-burner...

Win2K does not offer a standard ASPI layer, thus many popular CD-burnning applications often do not work properly, even if the programs claims 2K support.
Luckily you can hack Win2K to support a variety of ASPI layers, thus increasing compatibility for more applications. You will need to apply the ForceASPI hack, available here:

Hope this helps,

Just noticed this...tried to burn something with FireBurner and it came back saying that it did not detect any cd-rom drives on my system.
Rather odd...because everything shows up. Shows up in device manager, explorer, etc...I just can't seem to use to burn cd's.

Thanks everyone for their replies, and just to let you'll know, my fix was to switch the application I was using for burning. I now use Musicmatch 6.0 which burns music great and it also burns data

I have burner problems with every OP upgrade.
I put my HP 8200 and DVD in the same case with 98se. That seems to be a stable worksaver for most of what I copy, since the 98 drivers seem conflict free.
