    harddrive question

    I have a quick question
    just wanted to know
if it is better to get a 20gig 7200rpm HD
or a 30gig 5200rpm for the same price.
    will the 5200rpm be slow?

Personally, I noticed a big enough improvement in speed when I went from a 5400 to a 7200rpm drive. I'd get the 7200.

When I switched from my Maxtor 13.6 Gig HDD(5400rpm) to my 20 Gig Quantum(7200 rpm), I noticed quit a difference. The 7200 rpm is going to have faster access times and programs will load quicker. I'd go with the 7200rpm drive! What do they cost now? Maybe $20 more than a 5400? I'm also looking for a new drive myself. Most likely I will get the Maxtor 40 Gig 7200rpm ata100. I don't need that much space but that what I always say and then a year later my drive is full! Good luck!

If you buy the 20 Gig you will have gained 80% more space than you have in use now,
How long did it take to get to the point you are at now.
Go with the 20 Gig by the time you fill that up it will be time for a new drive anyway.
