    Best Hard Drive for desktop

I have heard some mention SeaGate, some Western Digital and some Quantum Fireball. I need one for a desktop, which is fast, durable, long-life and still affordable.

Newer 7200rpm, 20GB/platter, 2MB cache from all manufacturers are all recommended.

The IBM 60GXP sounds the fastest over Maxtors DM+ 60, WD 800 and Seagate Baracuda 4. But the differences are marginal and you'll hardly notice them on a home system.

The IBM's are great drives but their 75GXP (king of IDE drives) proved very unreliable so I stepped away from them and gave Maxtor a chance with the DM+60. So far I love it, it's quite and fast.

The quietest, most reliable, and all around best hard drive is IBM.
