16x CDRW
I will be purchasing a CDRW soon. I have seen some discussion about the new 20x and 24x CDRW being just as fast as 16x CDRW's. (because media is not widely available?) If I won't see very much of a performance advantage, I'm just going to get a 16x. I'll mostly be burning data cd's and doing backups of My Docs and Frontpage Webs.
Suggestions on speed?

Maximum PC did a review on Yamaha's 20x which was pretty good. This is in the latest issue (Aug???). But they still prefer Plextor drives . If I were you, I'd get the Plextor 16x.

I've tried the faster CDRW but haven't had a successful burn (many coasters) past 10x write on standard CDRWs. I think I'll stick with my Sony 8/4/32 for now.

Hi,
You have to be carefull your CPU speed will
determine how fast you can burn.Read minimum

I assume with my T-bird 1.2Ghz, I'll be able to handle a 16x burn? I'll have 256MB Crucial Ram cas=2, 7200rpm hard drive.
Although, I am thinking about going with an 8x or 10x for cost reasons. But since I'll have a pretty powerful system, will I be able to take advantage of 16x?
