Partition problem
Ok, I created two partitions when I was in win2k. One was a 15gb NTFS partition, the other was a 45gb NTFS partition. Recently i deleted the 15gb partition and made it FAT32 and installed Win98se. One problem exists:
Win98se isnt picking up the 45gb partition. I ran FDISK and it is still there. I tried installing Microsofts hd limit patch (patch to allow drives over 32gb), still doesnt show up in My Computer. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Win98 cannot recognize or access NTFS file system... You'll need to install a third-party software to access or write to NTFS from Win98. As for Win2k, you can access FAT,FAT32, NTFS & NTFS5.

NDC: do you know where I might find a 3rd party program? It's wierd, the partition doesnt even come up in My Computer. It's almost like it doesnt exist at all. I checked fdisk again, it's still there...
I would really love to avoid formatting it.

ok I tried that utility already, like I said, Win98se isnt recognizing the partition, as in it isnt viewable in My Computer. how am i supposed to tell this program what drive it is, when it seems not to even have a drive letter?

I dont want to multi boot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you mean you don't want to keep that NTFS partition anymore?
Then you need to remove it with Win2000's FDISK (you will loose all the info on it), if you don't have Win2000 installed anymore you can try booting with the Win2000 installer & when it shows you the available drives for installation tell it to delete that partition, then exit the installer (you wouldn't need to continue with it), after that just use your win98 fdisk to allocate that partition, format it & you're done!

Hmmmm, that is strange. I've set up multiple partitions for people who wanted Win98 and Win2k on a single hard disk and haven't seen a situation where the partition isn't shown at all in Win98. The NTFS is shown in Win98, but just can't access it. You'd get an error message asking if you wanted to format the drive...
This may be a shot in the dark, but try setting a line in config.sys. lastdrive=z and see if this works. Maybe there aren't enough drive letters? Just try it and see what happens...

i got it all figured out. i used partition magic 6.0 to convert the partition from NTFS to FAT32 and all the files on it are safe and accessable )
thanks for your replies everyone
