    40GB Deskstar is making me cry help!

    On my 40 GB deskstar is a lot of really important data. Ok now my problem is that first it made weird clicking and screeching noises then bad sectors popped up. Occaisonally bios detects the drive as a 30gig or some other weird capacity that is not 40gb. I tried to boot the drive to recover the data i could but windows and dos report the drive as 1.8gb help me!

    If it's making noises that would mean there's physically something wrong with your drive.

    I would check the warranty on the disk...you might need to replace it.
