what software are you using???? this is my guess:
you can only format a rewritable cd (cdrw)
or a blank cdr with a program like or similar to direct cd. this makes the cd so you can write to it mutiple times, erase from it, etc. maybe the cd you have was left open, meaning not closed, and that it can have data added to it...

ps. regardless, rest assure in the fact that cd's are what...5-10 cents these days??? so you can get plenty of practice and not worrying about it burning a hole in your pocket.

CD-R question
I finally got my CD-RW drive and burned one cd (after alot of frustration!. I keep getting an error saying something about "Fixation" and "session still open". I did format this CD-R, and I'm assuming this is a no no because the CD that I WAS able to burn was not formatted.
Is there anything I can do to make the formatted cd workable now? Or did I just make my first coaster?
