    best HD performance

    i just bought a Maxtor 40GB HD to go with my old 20GB HD, and wanted to know what is the best way to set it up to get the best performance out of my computer. I have a PIII 533 MHZ 256mbRAM. Thanks alot

    Assuming you only have 2 IDE channels, 0 & 1. I would connect both hard disk on IDE 0 and connect the slower devices such as CDROM, CDRW, Zip, etc on the IDE 1 channel. Use the faster hard disk to load the OS and slower device for saved datas. If they're both the same speed, use the smaller hard disk for the OS and larger one for saved data.
