I got a 16x pioneer DVD-ROM. Its transfer rate was 6-10 MB/s. Then suddenly, in the middle of one disc it slowed to less than 2MB/s and hasn't gone above that for any disc since. I don't think I changed any settings. I didn't check Device Manager before this happened but now it is transferring in PIO mode, even though I have it set to "DMA if available". I changed it from the secondary to the primary IDE controller and this didn't do anything. Should it be in PIO mode? Has anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?
