AOPEN 12X DVD-Rom Model 1240
I found this on newegg.com for $41. If anyone has found a review on the web about this drive, please leave me a link.
Or better: if anyone actually has this drive, please tell me how you think of it.
Thanks

Comeon, ppl...there's plenty of you out there with a dvd-rom and I'm sure at least one of you has this kind of dvd-rom or some other aopen dvd-rom that's close to this. I think I remember seeing one such dvd-rom when I saw Ritalin Kid's system specs here .
Ritalin Kid, if you can spare a few minutes, a post would be greatly appreciated.

I've built several PCs with OEM/generic DVD drives. I've been using the Afreey 12X lately and they have dropped in price around $40 at computer shows.
In playing DVDs, 12x seems to be decent with 40x CD read speed. I've never really had any problems and they all seem to read CD-R and CD-RWs fine. If you have a fast processor and video card, any DVD drive should be fine. Better if you get a bargain price.

Thanks, Imanage! I was starting to think that nobody was going to reply.
By the way, is UDMA-33 a good enough interface for a DVD-ROM?
