Who would really need a 100gb HD?? I mean for a home desktop. The most space I've ever used on my harddrive was 5.1gb and that was because I had just gotten a 100zip and transfered a bunch of music from a friends pc. I could never in a million years use even half of a 100gb drive! Bsdboy- Your right, that is a lot of mp3s

    I have 110GB (2x 46.1GB, 1x 20.5GB)
And I'm at like 75% capacity
And I dont even have any Movies on there.
I really dont know how it happened.

It's nice not having to worry about harddrive space though...for another couple months anyways.
    I'm like a file packrat...thats about 20GB.
20GB of games, and 15GB of MP3's, 4GB for windows. It adds up pretty fast.

Ya know, MrBaseball poses an interesting question. One that I have been pondering for some time now. Is hardware too cheap? I personally think that it is. 256 megs ram for $30? 30 gigs for $100? Bah. Kind of devalues computers.
Don't get me wrong, I love computers..they are my pride and joy, but...when I say I have 90 gigs and 512mg ram...its just not the same anymore. And it should be cuase that is alot! I really think companies are stooping too low.

    SoopaStar,
Some people need 512MBs ram, and a 100GB HD. If they run a home network, or have a home business. That can really help! I do think 512MBs of ram is a bit excessive for the avarage user, 128Mbs it way to little! Windows generally usues almost 100Mbs of mem, leaving your programs with about 30Mbs. 192 to 256 is a good amount! It gives windows 100, and whatever else your running plenty! It really helps in multi tasking!

I'm really excited about what these large capacity HD's are giving developers! Now instead of being limited to a few hundred MBs. They can make 1GB programs! Games can have more detail now! It's going to be cool!

Twenty years ago, IBM said you would never need more than 1MB of RAM in a system. Today, we have several MB of cache on various components, in addition to the video RAM, and system RAM, and any memory on anything else. In fact, many BIOS's have 2MB of info on them!

With emerging A.I. technologies, enhanced multimedia, and who knows what else we'll want to do, cheap memory and storage is a bonus right now. The available hardware should always exceed the needs of the apps, which we have only been able to do for the last few years.

There are games that take up a GB or more of space by them selves. 100GB hard drives are the answer. (Hell windows takes 700+ MB by it self, thats only going to get bigger more than likly too) I'm going to get some of those new 7200RPM 80gig drives and set up a RAID system this August.)
