    question?promise ata-100 pci controller card

    using abit bf6 mo/bo
    windows me
    p3 800
    just fitted a ibm gxp 60 hard drive.it runs at the 7200 rpm and is ata 100 compatable.
    anyway i've just ordered a promise ata-100 pci controller card.
    but i been thinking! surely my pci bus only goes at 33mhz.so won't this be a bottleneck and defeat the object of putting the card in.
    if you see what i mean :-)
    any thoughts welcome.
    thanks.

    the card is designed to run you hardrive at ata 100 so theres no need to worry about that.

    The pci bus is limited to 33 mhz but that doesn't mean the card can only trasfer at that rate.

    True, true. The PCI bus runs at 33Mhz, but it is 32bits wide so has a max transfer rate of 133MB/s unless my math is way off.

    Well, also don't expect huge returns from an ATA 100 over an ATA33. There was a whopping 5% increase in benchmarks between ATA33 and ATA66. ATA100 is said to be equal to ATA66. ATA100 is just really a buzz word now and nothing more.
