To hook up a hard drive

OEM hard drives are a lot cheaper than retail (as most things are) but since they dont come with anything i would like to know what you need to hook up a hard drive. Cables or what have you.

You should just be able to hook it up with the IDE cables you already have in the case( you should have got at least 2 with the Motherboard), if not just go down to your local computer store and they'll probaly just give you one. Other than that, unless you have a lot of CDROMS's and HDD's you should be right, if you don't have any spare power cables you could always get a power splitter. The cable should have 1 blue connecter and 2 gray I think. Those are the UDMA66/100 cable, the old UDMA33 one have only black connectors I think.

So whats the advantage of buying a HD retail what would it come with that the oem doesn't?

Retail hard drives come with the ribbon cable, hardware to mount the drive in a 5 1/2 bay, the current maxblast floppy, and an installation sheet (which nobody probably ever reads anyway).
And if you want to, theres also a nice box that can be used to hold all kinds of small stuff. I use one to hold my ribbon cables.

Oh foam, it also comes with foam. Cuel. Many uses for it. Especially as it is.

Yea the box and foam are cool but on the instruction sheet and install software, you can find these on the manufacturer's website if you need them.
