WHERE'S MY REBATE???
OK... I knew that it would take over two months to get the rebate for my router... but WHY does it take SOOO long? With today's computerized systems, they should be able to verify the rebate request, cut the check, and send it to you in just a few days. So WHAT are they doing with MY money??? I WANT IT BACK damnit!
One of my theories is that they're investing the money into the stock market... trying to get as much interest off of it as possible before having to send it back to you. Obviously, with the market in the condition that it is in, this won't work anymore.
Another of my pet theories is that they hold the money long enough to fund the development of their next electronic gizmo. Then when they start selling it (at ridiculous prices, but with a rebate), they use that money to pay back all the people expecting rebates for the old stuff.
A more sinister theory is that it's all a big money laundering operation run by a drug cartel in league with a technology company. I haven't fully figured out how it all works yet, but I'm sure it's a very real possibility. I'm convinced that the U.S. government is involved and maybe extra-terrestrials and possibly the UN as well (I'm being a bit redundant since we all know that the UN is controlled by extra-terrestrials anyway).

Rebates can if fact be a scam. Many people forget they sent them in. Many people give up too easily tying to get them back. Many Many rebates are handled by a third party company..
Steve's guide to rebates:
1. Follow the instructions to the letter.
2. Make two copies of everything.
3. Send in the originals as requested PLUS one set of the copies. This is a clear indication that you've stood in front of a copy machine and probably have another copy.
4. Type a formal cover letter requesting the rebate.
5. Send the Letter, original and copy of the rebat via CERTIFIED/REGISTERED MAIL.
5. If the rebate says to wait 4 to 6 weeks-> on week #7, send a copy of everything to
them again.

Even if you do everything correctly, you might not get your rebate. As I understand it they have a certain amount of money for rebates and as soon as that runs out, not more rebates.

emcron, that is most ludicrious thing I have ever heard. They are giving back money they over charged us. It will not "run out" but if you did not pay taxes last year, you don't get a refund.

radar, hate to tell you this, but I fought for a rebate for months and finally was told the promotion had expired.
there is no excuse for weeks of time from their receipt to the check, that bunch in coppel tex is about the most incompetent bunch Ive ever dealt with. they should be able to handle each day an amount of traffic equal to a days receipt. not be weeks behind.
couple days ago I finaly got thru to a person, this is not easy, finally figured out, dont punch any button and eventualy a person will answer. three times bounced around and cut off twice, third time got a guy,I couldnt understand. he asked my zip code three different times, finaly got another person who said he would solve the problem, and it would take up to four weeks. I am presenty fighting for a $15 from last april.

alondra,
Somehow I think the Federal government will not run out of money as they continue to sap it out of us.

If the rebate is from Staples, all you have to do is bring the info in to the nearest store manager and they will check into it for you.
Or you can e-mail the rebate department at Staples.com and they will find out what is going on.
Staples has been extremely good about being timely in processing and getting the check back to me. (Post Office collected several before they delivered though! Yes, the USPS admitted to it!)

staples rebates are the ones I'v had problems with, I have a good relationship with my local store mgr. she has a stack of complaints, from different folks. I gave her a stack of documentation, which she sent to corporate,
the web pages are also a mess. they dont match. on one it will show nothing the other will show several. check by the number will show. go by addy and shows nothing, they should match. I have never received a rebate in less than 6 weeks. I am finally down to one rebate due me.

RADAR1797, I think you need to re-read this thread.
emcron, that is most ludicrous (SP corrected) thing I have ever heard. They are giving back money they over charged us. It will not "run out" but if you did not pay taxes last year, you don't get a refund.

You are correct they are giving us money they overcharged us. But for some reason I cannot understand how what anyone paid in taxes last year has to do with a rebate from a store.
alondra,
Somehow I think the Federal government will not run out of money as they continue to sap it out of us.
-RADAR
You are correct again but what does this have to do with rebates from a store?
Do you know something we do not? Is the Federal government paying for these store rebates???? If so please enlighten us with your facts.
And you have the nerve to call me stupid!
Jad, yes I take stupidity personally and hope you are infertile.
Now I see why you “take it personally”. Be careful who pick your battles with. I am not the brightest person here but I comprehend most all of what I read. I am sure you are pleased to know I am not infertile with two very handsome and intelligent boys.
Perhaps you should heed your own advice.
If you want to discredit members on this board <edit> do so by disproving their contentions and not just throwing in useless conjections.
Did you happen to mean conjunctions? I think you need a spell checker.
