THAT WAS SCARY (a.k.a. how to tap a hole instantly)
My poor northbridge doesn't get as much airflow over its greenie ever since I took the Volcano II off to put a water block on . So today on my lunch break, I started making a smaller water block for it. It's a simple two pass cross drilled 1.5" square design. Three drills, one fill. I drilled and tapped the first two holes no problem. After I drilled the third hole, I put the threading tool in. The threading tool jammed, so I tried to take it out of the chuck. I was holding the chuck, and went for the brake on the mill but instead, I hit the switch up to make it go forward. It grazed my pinky before I pulled my hand back out of shock, and I quickly shut the mill off. I looked at the threading tool, and in that fraction of a second, it threaded the hole all the way through the block. No oil, 1200 RPM, lots of whining!

Think of what that means to the average, non-tech person lol it took me a sec to figure out what you are talking about.

(sigh)... okay
Plastic thing in Szech's computer hot. Szech no like hot. Szech cut copper block. Szech drill copper block. Szech put in 1/2" 13tpi tap in hole. Szech's right hand on tap, Szech's left hand on what Szech thinks is brake. Szech's left hand hits forward, Szech gets scared, hole gets tapped instantly.
Yay!
You know, I was doing some calculations...
1200 RPM / 60 = 20 revolutions per second.
13 tpi * 1.35 inches = 17.55 teeth
17.55 / 20 = 0.8775 seconds to tap the hole.

and .2 seconds to "graze a pinky" . You might want to reconsider what you hold it with next time.
I would'nt want you to have to go someplace like this. http://www.memorialmedical.com

Wart, I get stuff like that all the time when I start talking shop. It is really fun to say stuff like that around my parents as they are in their late 60's. My dad gets a lot of it but mom just smirks.
