It's too much trouble.
I don't understand how to work it.
It takes too long.
I'd rather find out if the same question always gets the same answers.
What's "case sensitive"?

Hehe, I considered making a post like this when I answered another "how to change the multiplier on a PIII" post a few days ago. I can't complain too much though as it wasn't until recently I started using it so much, annoying thing is I'm still looking for one post I read a while ago about the sysopt cookie not refreshing the page after posting, mines been doing that the last two days and I have to hold CTRL and refresh......

I agree - search is an often overlooked resource that should get more use. That being said, I have recently had occasion to look up some answers I was given in previous posts. Using search established that these threads were no longer in the database. Is there some policy regarding what is archived or is there some problem that loses threads every now and then?

If you may recall, the search feature was broken for months due to the huge volume of data (400MB) that it had to search through each time. Although the posts exist and will be searchable at a later date, I removed 1999's threads from the search index in order to lighten the load on the server. Otherwise, search would once again be useless.

Thanks for responding re:missing threads. I wasn`t here in `99. The threads I have been looking for are all from `01. I checked my post count in early March, then again in mid April when one particular thread couldn`t be located and found that about half of my posts were gone. Now I admit that not everything was worth archiving, but the answers that solved my problems were.
Edit: I don`t intend this as a complaint, just want to point out the problem.
