some people are real as.....es
we have a classified adds magazine here in Boston area.
Found add for USR 56K V90 externalk modem
Called seller this Am (11 AM), he still hgads the itme..i said id be down between 4-8PM to buy---showed at his place at 8:10 (got lost due to his poor directions and having to drive 55 miles to his location in heavy rain
when i range his doorbell-he said someone else called and he was going to sell the other guy the modem! I said i has first rights as i called first and showed up first---he claimed i was "late arriving"!!--so--he decided to sell to the other person.
what an ***-i drove 100 miles, at night, in heavy rain--for that ---(
The other buyer showed up 5 minutes after me and bought the item... that's the most unfair unethical non-transaction ive ever seen!!

You have his phone number still though right?
Refer to my post on this thread for instructions on what to do to the S.O.B.

Ever since the price of gasoline went above $.50/gallon, I've thought twice about driving around to shop for a better deal. Even if you had bought the item, would the real cost have been reasonable? Nonetheless, I agree the guy is a jerk!
