? about parallel port
I'm wanting to buy a zip drive and a printer but both are parallel port. Is there a way they can be hooked together or do I need two open ports? I've got two on the back, one is male, one is female, does that sound right and if so is this what I need? Thanks for any help.

The Zip Drive has an extra port on the back that you can plug a printer into. I got one and it works fine. You can use both at the same time without any extra hardware.

Just the answer I was looking for. Thanks alot Dominus!

Incidentally, Blade, if you're talking about the back of your computer (not the ZIP drive) that male port is probably a serial port. Only the female one is parallel.

Watch what you buy for this usage. Some printers won't work hooked up to another device's pass-through port. Canon is one, at least the MultiPass units. If you've got a free slot, secondary parallel port is the best way to go.
BTW, I've got parallel zip drive, great way to go. Connect to any machine, up & running in minutes.
