    This is really good!

    I asked my friend what she wanted for her birthday, and with no hesitation, she said, "Rib dinner!" No problem. Anyway, I heard of people boiling the ribs first, before baking them, so I figured I'd give it a try. I boiled a rack of spare ribs for two and a half hours with a clove of garlic, salt, pepper, and a halved tomato. I took the ribs out of the water, then I spread a mix of barbecue sauce, ketchup, honey, sugar and chili powder on them and baked it at 225F for three hours, reapplying the mix and pouring the juice on it every half hour, and flipping it halfway through. When I took them out of the oven, the meat was literally falling off the bone because it was so tender. I normally don't chew bones, but it was really good!

    Anyway, just thought I'd share this learning experience with you. Has anyone tried this with other meats? I was thinking about trying it with steak, but I get the feeling it won't turn out right.

    Please don't ruin a good steak. Ya only boil dead pig meat! It helps cook it, gets rid of some of the fat, and whatever disease you get from eating it under cooked.

    You boiled it? Thats interesting.

    Make sure you put some seasoning in the bbq sauce mix.

    when you take them out of the boiling water throw them on ICE bury them in ICE it cools them down really Quick and makes them even more tender

    Socal,your words ring true! For I do most of the cookin' in my house,thats REAL cooking,not from a box/bag/freezer. My work schedule is such that I have 7 days off in a row every month,and when I have to work OT or get called in, my better half gets mad because she misses my "home cooking". It's kinda bad, because she has to contend with mom's cooking that was passed down to me, and we all know you just can't beat mom's cooking(for the most part,anyway).
    How many guys here do the cooking around the house? Fess up,it aint no shame Mp

    Randy48, I kind of figured that it would mess up the steak . I like mine medium rare, and boiling it would cook the inside.

    Brandon184, yep! boiled them `til they were tender. What do you mean by seasoning? Like thyme, or brown sugar?

    Desmocat, I've been cooking since I was about 9. I've been cooking well since I was 13 . No shame! Can't live off Ramen!

    I can cook pretty well although I'm to lazy most of the time (when I'm alone). I learned most of it from my dad (he's a great cook).
    But if I had a grilfriend who appreciated my cooking I would cook anything for her.<IMG SRC="http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net6/malelovies.gif" border=0>
