    Arrow An Olive Branch

    Post Birthday (the party's over).
    Post Republican Campaign Meeting.

Let me say this about that, and it has a lot to do with what I've learned in 45 short years.

I am a proud liberal, which by definition is a free thinker w/ an open mind. I'm beginning to find many people of the same mind in the Republican Party also. It's funny to hear myself say that. Twenty years ago I would not have believed that to be true. I now know that it was true even then. I was just too blinded by idealism, to see all that we have in common.

What I do see dividing us are the extreme factions of the right and left. I and my friends joke about being Commies and Nazis, but it is a reminder of a past that we don't want to see repeated.

I wish that I could visually draw you a picture of how I see the scales of justice. Imagine the world as the fulcrum... If you tip the scale too far to the right or the left what you end up with is Totalitarianism. That is why I believe in America's 2 party system.

I know that doesn't seem like much. But then, I've always said, " There are more than two sides to every story. There's your's , there's mine, and there are those that we haven't heard yet."

    Peace and Love,
    And all that B.S.

Liberal Republican or Republican Liberal. Sound like an oximoron to me
Well, I am over 30 and a Liberal, which goes to show that W.C. has been dead for a long time and most of what he said does not apply now

BBA, the term you used is a understatement. I do think, how severe the damaging factors have permeated the core is yet to be determined.

A free thinker with an open mind is far from being a liberal. Some of the most bull-headed, closed-minded, dont-want-to hear-anyone-elses-opinion people I have ever met have been liberals. Free thinker with an open mind, WHATEVER.

Look at some of your own posts, and some of Brandons, and tell me just how open-minded you liberals really are.

I like how liberals preach "tolerance" for alternate lifestyles and such (which isn't a bad thing necessarily),...

but when it comes to alternate perspectives on important issues, they'll have none of this "tolerance" thing...if you don't agree with them then you are an "extremist".

The only thing the liberals are consistent about is their hypocrisy.

How many fools will actually vote for Bush? I hope not many. He is just as big a liar as Clinton if not a bigger one.

Probably not too many Democrats will vote for Bush. Why do you ask?

Jad, if you believe that anyone on the face of this planet is as big a liar as Billy Klinton, then, well I don't know what, that blows my mind to think that there is someone as bad as him anywhere in the universe. It has been proven time and time again that Bill Klinton simply can not tell the truth. Yet you liberals, set on "free thinking" and "open mindedness" will defend this criminal till the end. You simply must know that this man is corrupt. But you are not open to even think about voting for Bush.

    Good one OuTpaTienT

    Cool

Liberal by definition is being open minded. I wasn't talking about the Right Wing Dictionary of definitions.

What this thread has turned into is a perfect example of what I was trying to point out.

I can agree on some points i.e., " Clinton is a liar." Of course he is. He's a politician. I don't want defend Clinton for his extramarital ****, but he's no more guilty than his biggest detractors, like Henry Hyde , Newt or Livingston.

What I dont' like is the way people resort to insults and name calling as if it were a form of diplomacy. Hillary's a *****, Reno's a behemoth dike *****, etc.

I know too that it's all a part of human nature. I think that a lot of liberals are still smarting from the combative attitude of Ronald Reagan's diatribe against Liberals. He led an all out assault in an attempt to turn the word "Liberal" into a dirty word. And then we have guys like Rush carrying the torch... So if you find some liberals getting defensive you shouldn't wonder why.

I think that both parties are trying to move more to the center. When hard pressed moderate Republicans do admit that Clinton is the most conservative Democrat we may ever see in the office. But it's that **** combative "Kill at all costs" attitude that puts people at each other's throat. And there's just no need for it.

    BTW, MadMatt:

Is that an exact quote from Churchill? I like that, I'm gonna save it. Thanks

    Anyway,
    Whatever,

    Bruno

I am a Republican and conservitive of the old school. unfortunately to day, both sides have converted our plate of meat and potatos to stew. both sides lie, cheat and steal. tell the public what their spin doctors tell them the public wants to hear, and the sheep eat it up, taking as fact what the govt. and the media tells them.
I just finished reading A Nation Of Sheep by Lederer printed in 1961. this book could be writen today, tells of the fraud put upon the people during the Nam. debacle. but the same thing is going on today. look at what has been proven lies in Desert storm and Somalia. It may be in your library.

Bruno, Bruno, Bruno... Not all politicians are liars. And even so, it is not right to excuse it as normal because he is a politician. I do not think that you can paralell Klinton with those men you mentioned because not one of them lied under oath, suborned perjury, got a blow job in the Oval Office, etc... Each of those men admitted their mistake in an honorable way. Klinton waited until he was faced with evedence to change his lie. These men did not. Did I mention that Klinton lied under oath? I will never respect anyone, republican or democrat who will blatantly lie to the American people, and while under oath(unless in the interest of national security). I have not seen any evedence of G.W. lying, so don't go there unless you can back it up.

Hey Narayan, are ya stuck in that tape loop again??? heheheh.

Hell, if I got caught w/ my pants down I'd lie to God himself. To hell w/ the American people and the hangman hypocrits. It's nunya... as in, none of your business. I have to laugh because that's all they found on the guy. So what's new? Everybody already knew that he was a womanizer.

And might I add a thank you to Al (Alondra). Now there's an opinion that I can respect, even if we disagree. For those of you that don't know... Al is 78 very wise years old. Sorry if I gave something away Al, but I want you to know how much I respect anything that you might have to add to this forum. I really liked the meat and potatoes bit. But, isn't America the melting pot? What can I say? I like stew too. And what you said about spin doctoring is right on target. I get scared when I visit these one sided websites that everyone wants to base their so-called facts on. But, the truth will always win out. Where's Walter Cronkite or Edward R. Murrow when you need them.

    Thanks again Al,

    Bruno
