Socal & MtSnow, is anti-drugs talk allowed?
Don't worry MtSnow, I don't multiple post, the deal here is a warning on a serious health hazard. The drug called Meth-amphetamine, originally this was a pharmaceutical product. The ingredients were obtainable partially in the USA and one only in Canada. Finally, the Canadians stopped the over-the-counter sales. Soon available supplies dried up. Then, someone concocted the idea of mixing "Military Red Phosphorus(incendiary agent), Muriatic Acid(masonry cleaner) and Sodium Hydroxide(Drain opener). This produced a product that could be smoked or snorted. Only problem, compared to ALL other common drugs, this stuff killed brain cells at some incredible rate. One C-Scan I saw showed two sections of a mans brain about the size of small eggs that were totally white(dead). Needless to say, this person was very very retarded, from the drug. Personally, and CodyBear will back me up, I've seen three very young people here DIE from the effects of doing it. One stayed in a nursing home for about a year, the other two were so confused that they took their own lives. The current fatalistic attitude of some youth is that it don't matter if they die, Wrong, the family and friends also die inside too. The weight of some tragedy like this is far reaching, beyond what the deceased would ever have known. If they had known, they surely would not have hurt so many people. I know what some of you are thinking that people die all the time and suicide is common too, but Listen to me, this stuff makes death seem,, distant, or that it does not matter. The brain ceases to function properly if damaged badly enough, whatever the cause. Crack cocaine is just strong dope compared, granted too, you'll kill to get it , the desire is so bad, but this other stuff will make you do whatever comes to mind. I know about Extasy, and some of the others, they are bad too, depending upon who made it, they could be immediately dangerous to life. Going to church around this part of the world is much more common for youth funerals than weddings,, a crime in progress. I'm sick of attending these horror chambers, we need drug classes in school showing the poor boy drooling on himself and wearing a diaper and then the mothers, sisters and girlfriends boo hooing their eyes out, for days. One lady I know, for the last 18 months has cried every day.. You guys wanting to be vigilantes, join the Federal Drug Task force and go for it.. DrVette

I do feel that if this subject is discussed in a "adult fashion "(for lack of a better word at this time) (not saying anything about age). and doesnt turn into a drug rehab thread then I think I can let it proceed at this time.
But please continue it here so everyone can see what the "understanding is on it's continuing and understand that it can be locked or totally killed if deemed necessary"

If they're not already laughing, Get on w/ It. All of us fossils have war stories. Some need to be shared...

UGH.. I plan to never do drugs. Not even try. Smoking is something I will not become addicted to.
They teach us not to do three things in school, and they are drink, smoke and do drugs.
The only one I partially disagree with is alcohol, just as long as you don't become an alcoholic.

good for you !
remember, the only way to EVER be sure you wont turn into an alcoholic, is to not pick up that very first drink.

I've already drank a few times in my life (i'm pretty young), but I am the kind of person who CONTROL's themselves. Im in control of myself, no one else.
I'm intolerable to peer pressure. If someone asks me to try some drug, its, "I don't think so.." and if they persist, its their ***! If I don't wanna do whatever they want me to, thats the way it is.
If i ever saw any of my friends doing drugs, they wouldn't hear the end of it.

Hey Richard: How ya'll been doing over in GA.
I well understand your sentiments about the uncontrolled use of the different drugs that are so widespread in our society. The young folks and even older people have no conception of the ramifications that they expose themseleves too. Without knowledge and forethought many lives have been lost or ruined because of a spure of the moment decision. A real shame! Only education and example will lead us all pout of the depths of drug addition.

Ga? Did someone say GA?

yes Doc..the stories that could be shared from personal experience and first hand knowledge are not worth a sh%t today because these young kids like all previous generations know it all and also like all those that came before..it wont happen to me...Alcohol...the number one killer of mankind throughout the world is legal..what kind of **** is that?...what is on the streets today makes what we had look like cotton candy and the total disregard for personal wellbeing and those around them is sad........I watched two of my good friends OD in 1969 from stuff I had given to them and there was not a thing I could do to help them, I called the hospital and sure the ambulance came and they are alive today but without all the mental capacity they had before the windowpane...truth be told Doc..ya cant stop them and you cant change their minds....and somehow ya got to learn to live with the destruction they leave behind....

Creak, creak...
The sound of me climbing onto my soap crate!
I NEVER did drugs. I never felt the urge to do them. I don't smoke, so I never tried marijuana. I guess you could call me a nerd or an outcast.
I don' care...I took care of myself when I was young. I had better things to do with my time and drugs weren't part of my life. I replaced it with weightlifting, sports and school.
Having said this, they haven't erected a church or monument to me yet because I'm NOT St. Tony! I've done more than my share of drinking, in fact I was quite practiced at it until my girlfriend (and future wife) dope-slapped some sense into me. I did many stupid and immature things whilst drunk...like driving and fighting and being a general a**hole. I look back and could kick my own *** for being so stupid and selfish. I could have killed someone else and not to mention me.
I think the moral of my little story is that you need someone else in your life that cares enogh about you to help you out of a self-dug pit. The lure of drugs and alcohol is strong and quitting them is impossible for some folks. I was very lucky to have my wife, Debbie, in my life. She cared very deeply for me, enough to do the difficult things that made me realize that hot summer nights were meant for more activites other than riding around "half in the bag" with your buddies or bar hopping and doing some recreational fisticuffs just for the hell of it.
I can never, ever look down at someone with a bad drug habit or an alcoholic. I feel sorry for them that they never had that person who threw them a life line before it was too late.
**** these "substances"...they eat away the dignity of the user and dominate their whole self essence.
And I do know something about drug use -- my younger brother has tried almost every drug that a person can inject, snort or smoke. He chose his significant-other unwisely as she fed his habit until he became firmly hooked. She used drugs and I guess he just couldn't resist her or the drug's infulence.
I haven't seen John in almost 6 years, and I don't think I'd recognize him if I did because before he "left", he looked like a living skeleton. I'm hoping that some major miracle happened for him, but the chances are slim because he had that "starving man" look in his eyes wyhen it came to his drug use.
I just wish him well and I really hope to see him again regardless of his condition.
So, Dr. Vette, thanks for bringing this topic up. It's a real sore spot for me and my family, but I hope that someone else, wheter old or young, can learn something from this and live their life without the awful burden of substance abuse.
Thump.
Off the soap crate...
Tony

i'll tell you what. I respect your decision about the drink/smoke/drug thing, but I think that as you get older... (I'm only 21) and go off to college, you'll see some of your best friends get involved in lots of stuff that you don't approve of. In the end, once you've told them how you feel about it, there is little that you can do. As I'm sure that many of the people on this board have had, I know lots of my very closest friends do drugs... some lightweight drugs, and some do some very serious drugs. If I were to constantly badger them about their lifestyle, then I wouldn't have any friends anymore.
So.... although I believe that there is a time and a place to break a friendship over something like that, more often than not, I just try to enjoy the time with all my friends as if it were my last!

Tony I'm sorry to hear that. I know a guy that I've hung out with now and then for the past 12 years, and he is severely addicted to Crank, or Methamphetamine. He spends weekly about $500 to feed his habit. He lives in a camper. He has only a 12' TV. He only has one chair and the clothes on his back, no other posessions, not even a car. He sold that a couple weeks ago. I am not sure how he gets his money. His teeth are rotted from the Meth, his speech is slightly slurred, his skin is starting to do wierd things. He really is a good guy, but he made 1 bad choice. He was addicted the first time he used it. Now he has to have it when he comes off his high, just to not feel like total ****. He will sleep for 2 straight days after a "long night". I dare say, that he is beyond help and his craving will lead to his inevitable death. I feel terrible for seeming to give up hope, as I am an unusually positive person, but there simply is no help at this point. Meth is so evil, that to recover from a Meth addiction can take several years. To anyone, Don't even try it. Not even once. It will kill you.

Did you know that you can buy kilos of ephedrine in america?
Did you know that you can make meth with psuedophed in your kitchen in about a day?
Did you know that ritalin is basically meth????
