    Lightbulb Can you believe this!?!?!

More about what our GREAT country is coming to, Mgordon, im sure youll agree 100% with what im about to type but this is rediculous!

Last week the Supreeme court said that pornography is OK and its OK to burn the flag, that communists have the right to work in the defense plant, that is is OK to teach witchcraft in schools, and it is OK for students to write about the devil in school papers.

However it is illegla to write papers about Jesus, it is illegal to pray in school, and now the supreme is saying it is illegal to pray before a football game.

Come on, have we really become this immoral as a country? Are we americans really this evil? What is going on with us? This is disgusting.

So you are saying the Supreme court said it is ok to talk about the devil but not Jesus in papers? Interesting... Anyone got any links that can back that up? If I was in a classroom, I would make it a pt. to write an historical acct. of Jesus on my next assigment if I could fit it into the topic, just to test the waters. If this is true, that is.

That is a very general statement. Where are you getting the information? Oh, out of the paper, OK. Let's see the actual cases and verdicts.

However it is illegla to write papers about Jesus, it is illegal to pray in school, and now the supreme is saying it is illegal to pray before a football game.
That is even more broad and generalized. Where are the facts? The cases? The details?

But back to your comments; no, I do not believe it is right to burn the flag, or for communists to work in defense plants. As for witchcraft, I would say no as far as teaching it, but OK to teach about it, and there is a difference. And if kids are allowed to write about the devil, they should be allowed to write about any other fictional characters as well. I would say that adults have a right to view pornography, but not children, no way.

so 'no big deal' about the colonial witch hunts where people accused of witchcraft, a peaceful nature oriented religion, were put to death ... but by god (no pun intended) now we're going to kick and scream because christians are being slapped on the hand? oh please. as if we're not inundated with christianity everywhere you turn in this country. i respect everyone's right to their beliefs, don't get me wrong, but come on ... christians have had this country by the b*lls since the white guys landed on it and took it from the natives. i don't think that a little bit of legislation is going to have a severe impact on any of it.

    shining happy people ...

no one says you can't pray before a football game. just don't do it over a loud speaker at a public school. you know there is that separation of church and state thing.

Here are some links to the football prayer story: http://www.msnbc.com/news/422899.asp
This one is by a "Rev. Barry W. Lynn is executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State in Washington, D.C." What a hypocrite...

Here is a second one: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/Da...ng_000619.html

I'll try to find some links - if possible - about the other stories. But it may have just been an article exclusive to your newspaper.

Just had to help out my fellow mate, ILC.

Another thing... Why is it the problem of the Federal Gubmint? Why not leave it up to the states, or the schools, or the students themselves? The Federal Gubmint is reaching into more and more of everybody's day-to-day lives.

i think that's what happens when you appeal stuff in our judicial system. if i remember correctly this hot potato just keeps gettin' kicked up the ladder. if we didn't have the federales input, we'd end up splintering with alabama holding revivals before games while cali would hold yoga sessions before theirs. (whoa, talk about gross stereotyping )

Thanks Warthog! Narayan, the g'ment has recently started to think that they should control everything and give the states less and less power. Its rediculous.

Even though the majority WANTED prayers before games, the supreme court still thinks they should step in becuase there stinking left-wing, demonic brains disagree with it.

I am beginning to find our country becoming mmore and more communist. Atleast the g'ment wants it that way. Everyone totally equal, making the same amount of money, having the same opportunites, and making all the laws everywhere. This is sickening.

i find it interesting that since this country was founded initially by people escaping religious persecution in Europe, there are those that now want to force their views on others. the first people here, beside the natives which is a whole 'nother issue, wanted to escape to a place that would allow them to practice what they believed in peace and not be forced to follow any certain doctrine. so now people are upset they can't organize a prayer in a public event? isn't that what church is for? i have nothing against christians nor what they believe. but i do have issues with using a public school event to pray. if you need that much religion in you life, there are parochial schools for that. i don't need my tax dollars going towards organized prayer anymore than you need yours going towards holding atheism conversion conventions.
