Cool Ran an old DOS program recently...

I booted to DOS and ran some of my old DOS diagnogstic programs just to see how they reacted to the new Athlon system.

One of them gave me a good chuckle. A program called CACHECHK.EXE, used to benchmark then system cache, returned these results to me:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This machine seems to have both L1 and L2 cache. [reading]
    L1 cache is 32KB--1262.1 MB/s 0.8 ns/byte (293%) (107%) 1.9 clks
    L2 cache is 512KB--1176.4 MB/s 0.9 ns/byte (273%) (100%) 2.0 clks

Note: Due to the extreme speed of this CPU, the determination of
the L1/L2 breakpoint may not be accurate!
Please send me your CPU for (Heh-Heh) "evaluation".

    Main memory speed -- 429.8 MB/s 2.4 ns/byte (100%) [reading] 5.6 clks
Effective RAM access time (read ) is 19ns (a RAM bank is 8 bytes wide).
Effective RAM access time (write) is 25ns (a RAM bank is 8 bytes wide).
"AuthenticAMD" Pentium Pro Clocked at 602.0 MHz (??!!). Cache ENABLED.

Actually, tho old, that's still a good program -- it'll sniff out marginal memory errors in your L1 & L2. Yea, send him your CPU for "evaluation". hehe

The reason it says AuthenticAMD Pentium Pro is 'cos it recognises the core class as Pentium Pro (P6ish type) but the vendor ID is AuthenticAMD.
