Thumbs up Update on MS Office 2000 registration fiasco.

    http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/For...ML/000195.html

It looks like this will be resolved. I e-mailed Microsoft in frustration and recieved a good response:

    Hello Mike,

    Thank you for contacting Microsoft.

I apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced. I understand
that you are having problems with a copy a Office 2000. There are a
couple of issues that may come up. First of all, if the customer calls
in, we can give them the proper Product Key to install it.

Secondly, there may be an issue that the product may fail to install
because of a license verification program Microsoft has with the
academic versions of Office. According to the licensing agreement, you
are entitled to sell the software so long as it is completely
uninstalled from your computer system. If the purchaser has a problem
with this, they may call 888-652-2342 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

    I hope this helps.

If you have any additional questions, please let us know by replying to
    this message.

    Thank you,

Not the response I was expecting, so I am pleasantly surprised.

Holy Cow Mike! Are you sure it was MacroSwamp on the phone? I looked hard for info on re-sale of the open license/academic software but to no avail. This is great.. good for you. DrVette
