Who misses the old days??

The days of shareware no one payed for, good adventure games (DOT, Sam and Max, etc.), Doom, Doom2. Games felt better back then - the game play was better and more fun. We used to run our 486's into the ground - completly run the cr*p out of them and they wouldn't die! The days of Lemmings (cool music) and the like, the 286 still hadn't died (I loved that thing!). I miss those days - s'pecialy whe I had games like Alley cat and Test Drive 1 on my PC XT.

So, who feels nostalgic?

Ah, the good ol' days. I remember playing "Jumpman" on my Commadore 64 for days on end. 30 levels of dodging bullets and jumping up ropes, and of course you couldn't save your progress; if you died, you had to start all the way back at the beginning....

Man, I remember in middle school our computer lab had like 20 of these ancient things in it, all running off of one floppy drive that had a cycler on it. You'd process some command, then sit and watch the cheesy digital display on the cycler as it counted around to your computer again to perform some other command. Think of how far computers have come since then!

The very first "real" game I played was Dune 2 on my 386!!!

It still is my all-time favorite, just because it is the very first game I played, and I was extremely addicted to it!!

Dune 2000 doesn't even come close to it, for me that is!!!

The days ya could play games on a 25Mhz machine with 2Mb ram and a 200Mb hd was more then enough room for multiple games!!!

Nowadays, your lucky if ya get half a game on 200Mb.

hey! speaking of good ol' days and computer games, i need help finding a classic. i can't remember for the life of me what this game was called but it was a very basic game consisting of different landscapes and a cannon in the lower left and right corners of the screen. you have to try and blow up the other one by calculating missile trajectories, etc, etc. anyone have a clue what game i'm talking about? i used to play it for hours on end and now i can't even remember what it's called. *lol* ahh, old age must be setting in!

The game play was so much better - I'm sick of this constant upgrading because of power hungry games - in my day, it didn't matter what machine you had - you could make do - i.e. Doom II on a 386 (not for the light hearted).

I had Dune 2 on my P100 (pirated - back then, it was all acceptable) it was a great game Sky roads is another good one. The adventure games were the best - none of these stuipid 3d and detailed graphics, Day of the tentacle ruled the world!! The machines were bullet proof back then - e.g. If a heatsink fell off the cpu and onto the mobo, today you'd be like "Oh my God, please let it be ok!!", while in the old days, it was "hmm- mabey I should have a attached that some how". I have my old 486 back in action - the CD drive and FDD rest on the mobo! The machine's chasis is warped and broken, the cover is lost, the psu is hanging out, but it works!!

Ok, I'm rambling now, so I'm gonna shut up

Psyklone....I think the name of the game you are thinking of is called Scorched Earth. Does that sound right?

Psyklone, I remember a similar game that was gorillas throwing bananas at each other over buildings. You could vary velocity and elevation to try to hit the other guy.

Yeah, scorched earth..the first real multiplayed game for me. maaan..that game rocked...still does.....and i remember gorilla, written in qbasic. both very fun games.

Nothing, will ever beat super dodge ball on the nintendo though for my money. goodness gracious...nothing funnier than pegging in the face with balls when you about 12 years old.

I remember staying up with my cousin all night at the age of like 7 to complete it!! I was fluent in dos by the age of 8 - resonably anyway. Ah yes, those were the days!
