wow, i just tried to connect too and Napster said the server was down, however I can access their website.
Napster's servers have been known to go down from time to time. Try and log on in a little while and see. I haven't heard any news of them shutting down as of yet.

I did have some trouble connecting after I made my last post... After a while though I connected. Persistance pays off I suppose.

Napster is also trying to work out some kind of deal with the record companies. Either a pay per song or pay per month deal for users is how it looks now.

How does Napster get money?
I don't get it. It's not like there are ads or something.
The pay per song or month idea will probably stop me from using it. I download about one or two songs a month. I don't need it that bad.

I am over 5 gigs in mp3's now so I guess it won't be much of a loss for me either. I will have to use ftp or rip them myself. But then again it depends on what they would charge and they would have to guarantee me that I would get complete songs.
