I'm still waiting on that!

You go to auto shot, and you see a guy that has senior mechanic on his shirt, you tend to believe him over reg. mechanic. see what i am saying?
That is a title granted through experience and/or certification. Our "title" here is granted through one thing: post count. That in no way indicates what we know. In our case, the reg mechanic might be a PHD in Overclocking Science who just joined. I know who I'd believe. And like zskills said, title has nothing to do with it. Just go through the responses and keep trying them till you get the answer.
If anything, I agree w/ CMonster's earlier suggestion that we submit our certifications as a measure of our expertise.

what a shame, we waste more time *****ing about this **** then we do helping people out
That's because there's such an easy fix for it. The members can't do anything about that except for learning the mindset not to take Seniors or Ultimates as necessarily experts. Admin could simply make everyone an Ultimate member, or get rid of the system alltogether. The ppl will be helped and their problem taken care of, but there will still be this issue of seniority until sysopt.com decides to do something about it.
and the most sorry thing about this is that it's all of our supposedly knowledgable members that are constantly whining about this ****
So does it make one more unintelligible when they complain or express a grievance? I was unaware. This is a problem UBB's will have with rating post count systems implemented. There will be no way to teach every newly registered member not to take senior's and ultimate's member's words as necessarily expert's words. I find it much simpler and easier to get rid of it and the problem is solved. Your ears can rest because all the whining will have stopped.

I like it the way it is now. Once the posts stop counting in these forums and the other forums become much more computer related, the post count will start to mean a little more.
And yes, I will say I am biased and will take the opinion of someone with 1000 posts over someone with 30...just because I know they have been around for awhile.
EDIT- Before I get myself in trouble here, notice I said I would take the opinion over someone elses, not a statement of fact.

exactly chip, its the mindset that experience grants intelligence, which is not neccessarily true.

Insane Member
Most of the members who have the Ultimate title are very knowledgable. They have a high post count because they answer the most questions. Not to say that a person with a Junior or Member title doesn't. That wouldn't make any sense.

I like the status feature (of course) but I'd like to point out that it truly is meaningless when it comes to knowledge.
Perfect example: http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/For...ML/002761.html

Being a UM myself I must say that just about all the UM's here are knowledgeable. No one knows everything. People usually have strong knowledge in some areas but lack knowledge in others.
