Bring on the revolution.
Yet despite the proliferation of mp3, cd sales are increaseing. Thank the trendy pop stars and the sheep that flock to the sound of the talentless, synthesized bass line.

I just realized that might be seen as an insult to Joel if someone confused pop stars for Joel's music somehow. Just wanted to clarify.

Hmmm.... $15 each..... in the UK, they would have been up to £15 each!
Ur right tho, they are too expensive..... praps if the record companies weren't so greedy, there wouldn't be so much piracy.....?

Joel, yeah it sucks.
Off topic: Dude, cutting edge is an awesome delerious cd, but Mezamorph is way better, delerious totally changes styles in it... man, they're my fave brit band... jtim....

I recall reading (back in the middle '70's) that Stevie Wonder's double LP "Songs in the Key of Life" was the best selling album of the year. It was also mentioned that it was the most shoplifted album of the year.
Go figure...

Did you all catch the CNN news a few weeks back that said the government has determined that the US public overpaid by over $2 per cd purchased last yeat? It was because the Music industry set a minimum price that their products could be sold at. They did this because Best Buy and other stores were loosing money on purpose with their $8-12 cd's just to bring people into the stores.
So, does this mean if you find your recpeict from all your CD's you bought last year, that you could get your money back? i doubt it. I think the money I spent on my CDRW and blank CD's was more worthwhile. I believe teh news brief said something like $17.5 billion was spent on CD's and there are like 750,000,000 cd's purchased. Something like that.

Please excuse my language and this worthless post, but RIAA, Matalica, and Napster SUK!
Not necessarily in that order, but you know what I mean. If music was reasonably priced, this contravesy wouldn't even exist and if you'll notice, the most popular artists say they have absolutely no problem with Napster. They're still makin' money! If your major talent gets rolled over by a bus, you're not going to make as much. That's not a mystery, is it? I really hate to see has-beens trying to make a political or legal statement on their way out! Leave that for the artists people actually give a care about! Please excuse this, but I can't help myself, "Metalica SUKS!" The sadest part is that I own all but their last CD. WTH is "covers", is that what you do when you reach deep inside your soul and can't find a darned thing? With Lars, you can bet your SA it ain't out of respect!!! Just MHO, sorry!

well we all know where our money is going...CDs cost about 2 cents....and after pressed they cost about 12 - 15 cents....How much of the $15 bucks you blow on a cd goes to the artist and how much goes the the Record company?....And its a known fact that most artist arnt making as much as they were 12 years ago on rock and roll...Personally I dont think music is just for those who can afford it...Long live the mp 3

I think most bands make about a$1 a cd.

In my opinion, most music today is okay, but sure as hell not $15 good. I think CDs should be just $6 to $10 if it's really worth it. And hey, if those money-fetish punks don't want to bring the prices down, I can always download it for free! How do you like dem apples, huh!?!?!
