Human Parasite
Does anyone else agree that we have basically infested the earth in the same way that termites infest our homes?
-
I thought for sure you were going to mention Jesse Jackson, oh well, never mind.
-
ROTLFLMAO!!! That was hilarious Titan. I could think of a few others but will refrain. I think we are a bit parasitic. Or maybe it is symbiotic, depending on how you look at it...

Well a lot of people say we damage the earth too much, and that we should preserve it more, in a way that seems logical; to protect the environment.
But then again if you ever read genesis, God told Adam and Eve to conquer the earth, and subdue mother nature. In another line he told them to become the earth's "master", and make it obey them.
So which is it? Should we protect the earth, and work for it, or take over the earth, and make it work for us? personally i am split down the middle. Anyone else want to put thier 2 cents in?
-
I think we were made to be masters of it, but like everything humans do we have perverted the responsibility given us.

well i sure do hope there are no aliens with insecticide photon cannons that will kill us all... hehehe. just kidding.
Well, i think we're more of a roach, spreading diseases and eating filth.

We can assume that we're the masters of our domain, but the Earth has it's own agenda, operating on a time cycle much greater than our own puny life spans. And it is a limited resource, although it is enormous in relation to a single man or even all of humanity!
We humans do things that we don't want to suffer any consequences from: use pesticides and antibiotics until we've exhausted their effectiveness; dispose of the worst kind of trash/waste/effluence into the ocean; spew pollution indiscriminantly into the air; we use and misuse the animals we share the Earth with; and on-and-on!
We are as viewed from a very high level, basically carniverous bacteria! We are destined, I'm afraid, to overpopulate the Earth because we (humans) can't seem to control ourselves...families in third-world countries that have 10+ children only to watch them die in famines or to survive in a very meager existence whilst overfarming and carelessly managing the natural resources around them. Should any other person ordain that anyone else be limited in the number of offspring that they have. Probably not, but we all need to be willing to accept the CONSEQUENCES of bad decisions made under our own roofs as well as everywhere else across the planet. We are all interdependent, whether we like, understand or appreciate the fact. And because we're human and are prone to selfishness and greed and sloth and the remainder of the 7-deadly sin stuff, we WILL screw things up.
How may people can the Earth support?? I'm sure we're going to find out as the Earth is compassionless when it comes to putting us in our place. A little famine here, a little pandemic there, a natural disaster over there and poof...we're forced to the population level that old Ma Earth can and will support.
All our technology and medicine and best wishes won't save us. And the result will be unspeakable human suffering because we don't, as a species, have the wisdom or the will to at least TRY to do the right thing. we'd rather bring more people into the world whether it's good for them or not and then in a lot of cases doom them from the first breath that they take.
Sorry to be so negative, but my whole life experience is that we humans are at times well-intentioned, but at our core we're just a fraction more self-centered and greedy, so we are destined to fail in the long run.

A virus is an organism which lives off a certain other organic lifeform, and, when that lifeform is gone, it moves on. Hence, humans are a virus. Food for thought.

somoene watch's the matrix too many times the problem is we have nowhere for us ot go once we use all these resources up....so far at least.
-
I'll take two... CPU's
Hmmm...we need somewhere else to go...another world?
Since over 90% of all life that ever was on this planet is now extinct...we might be long gone before mother earth gives in!
-
Well, I don't know about that, but I do know a person who sleeps around for places to live.
-
Isn't symbiosis just the basis of two organisms interacting?
Therefore.. We could probably be mutualistic or parasitic.. I'm leaning toward parasitic.

I almost replied to this one.
Tanty wouldn't have liked the fact that I would agree. Yes Tanty, you are a parasite.

Me too, but it was too depressing. I figure all these parasites deserved to stay buried.
As long as they're out in the open - spray'em.
Thank God we're not getting all of the government we're paying for!
