Floppy 3.5 Drive Needed!

I have this wierd ATX case that I purchased a while ago. I got a really great deal on it. $22.50 (250W PS, sliding mobo tray, cover of case in 2 parts, the works) what I didn't know is that the 3.5 bay had a pre-cut faceplate for the floppy drive. Now, I have no idea on where to get a floppy to fit this case! Everywhere I've gone, and all the floppies I've tried aren't built for this case.

If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please explain to me where I am to get a floppy drive for me. Windows really acts funny with no floppy installed.

Some drives have removeable faceplates, just checked what I've got & both Mitsumi and Citizen drives do come off, although the Mitsumi would need to be, ahh, "persuaded". Will come apart w/o drive damage, but might break faceplate tabs.
Anyway, check one you've got.

be very careful. just take a hacksaw and cut the face plate opening bigger. if the drive will fit in the inside case holder. that's all that matters. I have done this before also some older compaq that had the works built inside a closed case setup. there 1.4 faces are only as big as the drive itself. do a search different places for used 1.4's and state the drive size ect. I might have one here in the shop somewhere.

Hi I have a number of old case with this type out the back room waiting for dumping, they use a plate that allows standard floppy to be fitted, can you tell me if the hole for eject button is round or square and what size it is, if I have one that fits your size you can have it as early Xmas present if they are still there, just e-mail me at

I can't help you with the floppy drive, but I am curious how you came up with your username. Most people use some form of their name, a favorite subject, or an alter ego. I can't figure out yours....

My "internet" name has always been: Gradius
I've used this name since I was about 11 years old. It comes from an old nintendo game I used to play like mad. My friends heard me talk so much about the game, they started calling me Gradius.

I had the name Gradius on the message board, but after some time, they board has a "crash" or something, and I could never use it again. The "oxO" and "Oxo" that surround Gradius are just for decorations I suppose; a fancy name tag of some sort

Hey Gradius,

You use a standard 3.5 floppy with that case! all you do is slide it in from behind (the eject button will line up with the "plunger" the is the eject button on the case).

I have the EXACT case in use with my daughters system.

And yeah you can put any standard floppy drive into it. You will have to do what Mtsnow said and then what I had to do was put a floppy disk into the drive and keep adjusting the drive when tightening the screws as I ejected the disk and put it back in to make sure that it wouldnt get hung up on the top or the bottom of the slot..Pretty easy to do even though the little plunger thing is kinda cheapo LOL..It's a decent AT/ATX case though, the price was right and it did have some extra stuff included for flexability for board types that have different port setups and I also liked the fact that there was room at the top of the case where my processor is to put a "blowhole" for extra cooling...Now if I could only find some type of logo that says "Stuff Inside" to put into that little square logo space...LOL
