Those are good to help cool a video card,I used one with my Voodoo 3500 and it worked good.

Also note that you can detach the body from the slot-clip, flip them over and reconnect the clip, eh? They are normally stock with the intake on the bottom, which is good if you have a higher-slot free and want to exhaust hot case air. If your vid-card is like most (and I think it's dumb), the hot chips face down, so the heat tends to build-up on the card (this is not so bad with the newer vid-cards that have their own chipset-fans). If you flip the fan's body over, you can position it in the slot below the vid-card and get some good air-flow drawing the heat away from the vid-card...

how well good do these fans work?? i am a cooling nut i guess you could say. i moded out an atx case and this is kinda lame but outta boardem i put 6 fans on it, 3 intake and three exost. plus i have a fop38 with a delta fan on the cpu witch i have to say does a great job at cooling the cup, if you can get use to the noise.. lol.. well ne way i have an x-tra pci slot so i was wondering if this would be a good thing to have, like i need ne more fans. i know too many fans are bad but what the heck one more shouldn't hurt lol

Just bought 4 of these from Fry's @ $4.99 each...(a California retailer) This is a good price if you are not near a Fry's...seen them selling at or around $10 in most places.

So wait call me stupid but does this thing blow air out or blow air in? I see the word exhaust and assume it blows air out. Do they create these things which blow in? Would be great if they did so I won't have to take the heatsink off my ATI LE asi don't trust myself with a screwdriver near the circuits.

They exhaust
What they do is w/ a 80mm fan, sucks out air through the back of the comp (theres a grill-like face on the back of the slot).
I bought a 40mm fan to screw onto my LE because I didnt trust myself either..
I had two of these exhaust fans in a box somewhere though, maybe I should have used one of those instead and see if it helped.

Actually, the ones I have is just 80mm fan in a slot. The one hes selling is the newer revamped model that uses the 'squirrel cage' fan, and it supposed to be more efficient.

More than likely a simple lead reversal would turn it into a intake fan.

Closer inspection of the fan blades are needed to determine the feasibility..

I have tried these and was not impressed either by the airflow (nowhere near 40 cfm)or the reduction in temp around the agp card.

I bet the next generation of these fans will bring in air so that it can be placed in your #1 pci slot and blow air on the agp hs......I might try one of those....reversing the leads would make the fan run in reverse but the vanes may not be very efficient that way.

groundzero: they make one, it has a intake and outtake, I have some and they work great, I change one so both fans blow out, I can't remember the name right now, but it's blue and it's twin tubed and fits in a empty card slot. oh and the tubes extend to make it longer also. I think it's called "pc conditinor" I'll go check the site and get back to you.. madfish

It's called "the air circulator" @ $15.00 and I got mine from this site: www.thecardcooler.com I bought 4 of these fans from them, I'm using three of them and I gave one to a friend and have both fans blowing arcoss her 233mmx heatsink {huge HS fins and no fan on it} and it works great.

I also have two of those slot fans you mention, and both of mine can't be reversed because the fan fins are not shaped for reverse blowing.. madfish

look under case cooling about half way down the page, you'll see the bayfreezer a slot fan then The Air Circulator: "The Air Circulator uses two 40mm ball bearing fans to expel warm air out of your case and draw fresh cool air in. The fans swivel and extend to allow you to aim the airflow where you need it."
like i said, i have mine set up so both blow out, and that girls so both blow in on her hs. the bay frezer is nice, but you need two empty bays right below it to use it, lol who here has any empty drive bays?? certainly not me.. cheers
