Thumbs up Decent 19" monitor for $275 shipped.

This is for a KDS VS-19sn monitor.

Onvia sells this monitor for $299 and free shipping.
    http://www.onvia.com/usa/products/in...Catalog=191324

$299 is cheaper than the lowest price i saw on pricewatch for this monitor before shipping. Add one of the coupon codes i saw on
    http://www.gotapex.com/deals/

when you check out with an AMEX card and get an extra $25 off.

I've done a little research on this monitor and although not great, from the comments I've seen the monitor is above average, comes with a 3 year warranty and everybody seems to say good things about KDS's customer service.

    See specs at KDS:
    http://www.kdsusa.com/ALL/Visual%20S...ons/VS19sn.htm

Coupon ends 7/31, I would enjoy hearing some comments back before I buy it though.

    Hello!

Before deciding for sure, you may want to hop over to PCWorld and check out thier reviews of the 19 inchers..
    http://www.pcworld.com/top400/articl...59+2+0,00.html

After doing a brief search of PC Magazine & PC World, the only thing i found specific to the monitor you are considering was at PC Magazine:

"If you're hoping to avoid the frustrations of an overly cramped office, the $849 Visual Sensations VS-195 and $889 Visual Sensations VS-19sn, from KDS USA (800-237-9988), might be your salvation. The VS-195 has a depth of only 18.9 inches, and the VS-19sn--which uses the new short-neck tube technology--has a depth of only 17.3 inches. Maximum resolution for both monitors is 1,600-by-1,200 at 79 Hz. The VS-195 utilizes a Hitachi CRT with a 0.26-mm dot pitch; the VS-19sn's tube, which has a 0.25-mm dot pitch, is from Matsu****a. --Sharon Nash"

My personal experiance with other KDS monitors(not the VS-19SN) has been that they are good 1st monitors for folks who don't spend a lot of time on thier computers. I've bundled them with systems for customers who are new to computers and/or are more concerned with the bottom line and have had no complaints.

As far as getting it from ONVIA.com should you decide to get it, sounds good to me also.

    Hope this helps & goodluck!

    Brian

Well, I bought it. Hope it doesn't take too long to get here. I was worried about its picture quality, but decided that it would have to be a huge improvement in all areas compared to my 14" Acros View33D that can only do 800x600 graphics @ 56Hz refresh. I'm sure to me it'll be the greatest monitor ever.

    Unhappy

Unbelieveable! It doesn't work. Brand new out of the box from onvia.com and it doesn't work at all. The power light comes on and that's it. Anyhoo, called KDS Tech Support. Got a polite, intelligent, articulate human in less than a 2 minutes. He asked me to try a couple things with it plus some other info like serial number and such. Satisfied that I didn't forget to plug it in and that it was indeed broken, he put me in touch with a nice girl at customer service who promptly sent me a new one and will have the broken one picked up later. At this point, I'm extremely satisfied with the CS. I'm eager to see an actual working monitor though.

    Red face

My experience with computers is that a vcr , tv toaster , air conditioner just about anything is better made, then the bug ridden computer box, its like a big hunk of plastic junk , but when it's working be carefull don't try to disturb it too much or the blue screen of death will come and bug you!

Hey! I got the replacement and I'm in hog heaven!!! It's the most beautiful peice of equipment I've ever seen. I watched Soldier on DVD last night and didn't have to sit with my nose against the monitor! Unfortunately, last night sitting away from the monitor I realized how woefully inadequate my sound system is. Guess I gotta go beef that up now! Anybody out there still using that 14" monitor from your old 386 system, all I can say is get rid of it. Get rid of it now! You have no idea what your missing. I played some UT last night and got totally immersed in it. I cannot put into words how much better a big monitor is!!! I can't believe I waited so long to get one, I have to go kick myself now!
