    Lightbulb Promise ATA66 controller

Multiwave has the controller card for $25 w/o inflated shipping. It is in the white box but $25 for a Fasttrakk RAID card (with slight modification) is not too shabby!

Mntsnow, have you successfully installed a fastrack66 on a BP6 or under W2k? I have heard it is rather tricky. I have heard about conflicts with the hpt controller and driver probs with W2k. I hear it will work, but just not easy to do.

I have yet to do the bp6 and YES I've heard it can be tricky..The cards will be here Thrusday and I will get them converted by friday (that's when the extra 20 and 27 gig drives will arrive) so Saturday after I get home from work will be the battle time

ps. It going to do this on my bp6 (win2k Primary OS) and my bx6-2 boards(2 of them Win98 primary OS) this will leave me 1 controller incase I fubar one of them or I can sell it down the road

Read the article that Bdog wrote that SysOpt published on the front page of the SysOpt website. It will explain the difference and how to do it

Hey, can u post some benchmarks for what ur getting with that new card. I don't care too much about the data redundancy (Cause I want it for my game machine) I'd like to know how much faster it performs with two ata66 at 7200 rpm. I already have ata66 built in to my motherboard, but I like the raid's increased transfer rate and decreased seek time. If u could post benchmarks, that would be awesome. I'd basically like to know whether it's better for me to go buy two new HD's, maybe to 20 gigs, or one 34.

    Thanks,
    JP

So I'm guessing it will be at least sunday afternoon beforeI can get benchmark testing done on the converted Ultra66 controllers

Late today I ordered another Ultra66 card and two IBM 7200rpm ata66 20 gig hds for a server at work. We got them shipped Fed-Ex so I should be getting them by Thursday. I will be installing them on a BP6 but not sure if it will be W2K or NT4 yet. I will post the results and try to do some benchmarking.

Sounds like we both will be warming up the soldering irons thrusday Bdog (hopefully you'll do win2K on the bp6 to so we can "help or hold each others hands"
