Post Free NIC... One way or the other.

Well, I finally got my free NIC last week after many moons. I finally had to call Lanmarket and after about 10 calls of getting only an answering machine, I finally got a person. I explained that my free card never arrived. He said they sent out a large batch some time ago. Then he said he would get one out to me immediately. He took my address and by the looks of the envelope, it looks like he went down and handpicked the card himself. The address is handwritten and the return address is one of those little lick-em tags you sometimes get in the mail for free. Definately a plus here(Me actually getting the card that is!) So, if you are still waiting, call them. You will prolly get an answering machine a number of times, but you should get lucky sooner or later and get a live person. Or, you could try pressing 0 before you get transferred. That brought up a semi knowledgeless operator one time. Maybe you'll get a better one!

Hey, Office Depot has a nic card, Linksys brand, that works great. It is only 15 bucks! Me and a buddy both set up our home networks with em, and they are great. Just in case you never get em I mean.

    Thumbs up

I agree w/ Droj; the Linksys NC100's work just as well as the 2 3com's I've been using. They work great in Linux, too, but just make sure you get an updated tulip driver:
