Wow, it really is free, and they don't add you to junk mail lists...! I've already applied for a free NIC, now a free Tuner card. What's next free RAM?

Hey Guys!!

READ THEIR PRIVACY STATEMENT.. After I read it, I do not want this friggin' free TV Card. It says in there that they reserve the right to send you stuff, and you have no right to stop that download, plus the software you would be using with this card has a logging software that monitors what channels you are watching and they reserve the right to get onto your hard drive and get that file.. What else are they going to do on your hard drive? jeez.. read between the lines, people, don't be suckered in...
I would take anything free with this kind of conditions...
Hope you made the right decision..

Regards, Spacetop.

How do they access your hdd and take info like this? Will programs like Guard Dog stop them from doing htis? i know it is supposed to protect against bugs.

OK if privacy is what you want then only look for software that is compatible with the card and voila!

I ordered one TV Tunner. As soon as I get my hands on it I'll look for another application to use it. If I do find another program that is better and has all features of the one packed with the card I'll let you know.

Yeah, I passed on that lan card when I saw the terms for it too. There's no monetary expense, but they get your name, address, phone number. Why do you think they ask for those? Advertising.
And, if I remember reading it correctly, they will use your street address to send advertisements to other people on your street also.
I'm willing to pay the $15 for a lan card and not have to deal with that ****. Same with a tv tuner.

Thats too bad, if they say they want it back, then the card fried, and if they want to pay shipping back on a peice of cooked silicone, they can (if they still want it back, I will actualy hook it up to a 9v and make sure it dies!

I believe ,Accoring to their Receipient Agreement: www.planetville.com/agreement.html .. you dont actually OWN the Tuner card. They reserve the right to take it back if you dont agree to thier "terms (which they can change if they wish). Read section 1.1 and 1.2 carefully. As of today, i do actually "own" every component in my system and i intend to keep it that way! I will have to pass on this one... Thanks for sharing though!
