    RAM Prices

PC100 SDRAM has quadrupled in price in the UK in the last few weeks. Does anybody know what's going on? I used to have 27 quid's worth of RAM now I've got 79 quid's worth without changing anything!

I hear that it is because they are forcing
pc133 and pc200 on the market. samething that happened to 72pin simms when pc66 and pc100 dimms were being brought in

Actually, there was a glut of RAM chips on the market, which is why you got it for only 27 pounds. The companies that make RAM have since tightened up and lessened production _significantly_, so the supply has dwindled and thus the price has skyrocketed. Add to that the fact that RAMBUS technology appears not to be such a great thing (at least not at the moment; way too expensive and other problems) so RAM makers are pumping up prices. I guess their execs weren't making enough to maintain their yachts.
