Looking for part...
Ok, I doubt if it even exists, but I figured I would ask. I have heard of digital modems that will plug into a digital cell phone and run like 40k. Onfortunetly, they are for laptops. Does anyone make an internal modem that does this? I am deigning 2 systems right now, one for on a boat, the other for a semi-truck. Both coustomers want 500mhz+ systems.
You can get adapters to go between your modem and your cell phone. The cell phone ( and adapter for that matter) don't know what type of computer you are using, only that the signal is coming through.
I know this anyway, because we lived in a place a few years ago where the cell service was actually better than bell? I know, but believe it..... or not!
As I recall, it was rather an expensive route to go, but if they can afford a nice boat that they're going to hacve a computer on, they can certainly afford this!
Just check with att, or sprint or someone who offers a no roaming, no long distance service. I use att, but I honestly don't know if they have the hardware. I think we got our adapter from cellular one, maybe, but of course we used the cheaper service!
Good Luck In All,
