    QNX: anyone tried it?

I downloaded this os and thinking of playing around with it. I have system commander 2000 installed on a partitioned disk. Any compatibility issues, installation headaches, pros, cons and software availabilty etc? Thanks for any responses.

I have it as the primary OS on one of my P3 test boxes. Currently, I have no real problems to note, just waiting for the desktop software to catch up other OS's like BeOS. For myself, QNX has proven stable, reliable, and high-performance. Definitely give it a try, as you may be impressed.

BTW, you will need a 3dfx card for 3D support. Not a big deal, but Quake3 is now available for QNX if your interested in games.

    Good Luck,

Well, I may not answer all your questions about QNX. But I know that there is a old version in one of our x-ray (for security, such as in airport) machine that we sell and support. They are mostly known in the real-time business. I know that the source core, was made in Kanata, near Ottawa in Canada. (Canadian pride! ) I hear according to some local computer magazine (last november), that IBM will be using it somehow in their business and it is still be use at NASA. It is a 20 years old O/S!!

What Internet Browsers are you using?

Tried the Demo Voyager browser was fast but very dated now. Also have used a WebPlayer with stock QNX and Escape browser but was very slow--even a 486 using Win95 and IE 5.0 was faster!
