Registry problem causes slow restart/shutdown
My restarts and shutdowns take a while, just sitting there for almost a minute saying "saving your settings" or something like that...
I go into Event Viewer and see this:
<IMG SRC="http://www.geocities.com/rh71el2/temp/error.jpg" border=0>
Then I found this doing a knowledge base query on microsoft's site:
http://support.microsoft.c om/support/kb/articles/Q253/8/20.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0&qry=unload%20registry%20&rnk=7&src=D HCS_MSPSS_gn_SRCH&SPR=WIN2000
It says SP1 fixed it, but apparently it hasn't for me... I'm running SP1 already.

I knew of this page & thought that Administrator tools may have something to help . John .

A quick update, I uninstalled/reinstalled SP1 to no avail... same issue. Also stopped the service called Remote Registry Service thinking it had something to do with it... that service no longer runs and the problem still exists.
JMATT, was there something there in particular I should look at? Most of their offerings are based on Exchange/Outlook.

I'm not to good at hacking registry yet but if you learn how it works then you can fix it and make windows run alot faster.
