Win2k and Partitions...Need help!
Well i ran out of space on my other partition that i download stuff to and i need to expand it some more. I bought partition magic thinking it would run under win2k pro but when i try to install it, it says its not supported under windows 2000. I checked PwerQuests website for updates for win2k but i found nothing. If any of you know where i can get free parttioning tool that doesnt destroy data when resizing please let me know. thanks.

Overclocked system? Very strange it's not working in Win98 either. Have you run a SFC on the win98 system?

well i overclock it sometimes. i use Soft FSB from h-oda.com which overclocks through software.i havent tried it overlcocked though. and what is SFC???

Sorry...SFC System File Checker it will check for missing or corupted system files on the 98 system. the easiest way to launch it is from the RUN line just type SFC and hit enter from there it's pretty straight forward

No Patition Magic 5 will not work in 2000 as of yet. It is my understanding that 4.0 will though.
It will not resize a win2k partition running in win98 either. It can still resize other partitions.
2000 has a disk partitioning tool included. Start/Programs/Administative tools/Computer Managment >Storage>Disk Management
I don't think it is possible to resize a patition with it unless you convert you drive to Dynamic Disk. But I don't think Dynamic Disk will work with 98 installed.

i guess i shouldve cleared this up before...i have a maxtor 20 gig drive and a WD 6 gig drive. the 6 gig is going to be used for redhat linux 6.2 beta when i have the chance to install it and i have the maxt 20 gig spli 3 ways. 10 gigs for win2k, 5 gigs for 98, and 5 gigs for downloads. all the partitions are FAT32 except win2k which is NTFS. is there still a way to resize the FAT32 partitions in win2k?

if this is getting to be such a problem, then why don't you just format win98 and reinstall everything, including partition magic 5.0? it wouldn't be difficult at all.

tapework: incase you havent read the rest of the messages in this post, i have windows 2000 installed. you have to install 98 BEFORE 2000 or win2k will mess with 98 and make it unusable to where you cant even boot up in 98 anymore. and i cant manage to loose 2k because of all the stuff i have on it and the time ive spent with it.

Partition Magic will resize them from 98. If you still have problems installing it try to make the 2 boot disk when you go to install it. Then boot to the disk in DOS and try to run PM from there.
Since you do have a legit copy of PM 5 I could e-mail a copy of the disks if you still have problems.

ill give it a try and let you guys know how it goes.......
