    Windows Millenium---no DOS??

I recently got to see windows millenium on a friends computer and I noticed somethign right away...I could not shut down windows to DOS nor could I press F8 and boot into DOS or the 'safe mode commmand prompt'. He was wanting to install Winlinux (which requires DOS mode).
I read an article about a month ago on how to correct this. It had somethign to do with a setting in the MSDOS.SYS file....anyone?

    Thanks
    Paul
