    Using SupraMax modem in Linux...

I'm trying to get my DiamondMM SupraMax
fax/modem working in RH Linux 5.2.
Unfortunately, I can't even get the darned
thing to react to a ATDT! Even Winmodems
are supposed to do that, which I don't
believe this one is. I tried getting
a response from each of the cuaX's, and
the correct one (cua1) does nothing (and
returns nothing) while the others give
a READ/WRITE error (as expected). Why
won't this dag-nabbed thing work? Anyone
have any experience with this modem? Again,
there is no indication given that this is
    a winmodem...

Is the modem PCI or ISA?
Does it have jumpers for the COM port on it?

    It's PCI, with no jumpers.

To check my modem compatibility when setting up my RH 6.0 Linux box I used the following link from the Modem-HOWTO: http://www.o2.net/~gromitkc/winmodem.html
